You need to make sure you restart the SMTP service when you change host
aliases. This is a new requirement in 8.20.

Have a good one,

Subject: [IMail Forum] New Host Aliasses Fail since 8.20 HF2

Hi,

Problem: when we enter a new virtual mail host, the host is named
mail.<domain>, e.g. mail.xyz.com. A host alias is entered for xyz.com
and before we switched to version 8.20 this solution worked since
Imail version 3. After the upgrade from 8.15 + HF to 8.20 + HF2 the
server does not accept messages for [EMAIL PROTECTED] but has no problem
with [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Virtual mail servers entered via version 8.15 (255 in total) and
upgraded to 8.20 do not have this problem. All new entries (via 8.20)
do not recognize the host alias.

Environment: Windows 2000 Server with all patches applied, Imail 8.20
HF2. The server is used for Imail only.

When we enter xyz.com as the official host name and skip the host
alias, mail for [EMAIL PROTECTED] is delivered without problem.

Don't ask why we use the abovementioned official host name/ host
alias construction, but it worked for almost 10 years.

Is anyone using host aliases and if you do, do you recognize the
problem for newly entered virtual hosts and what is the format you are
using for the official host name and for the host alias?

When I typed in this message I noticed the number of virtual hosts,
255. Including the standard host with IP it makes 256. Remarkable
figure?

Thank you,
