We use all 3Com switches here.  One has died in the last 7 years, and 3Com 
swapped it, no problem.  Good stuff.

We  use  HP  ProCurve  nearly exclusively; the days of the "home user"
switch  outside  of the home should be long-gone, for your own sanity.

I'd  have  to  agree  that  some of the old blue NetGears have held up really  
well,  far  better  than  others  at  their price point. But a managed switch 
will let you spend time finding out why your _stations_ are sending bad packets 
(chances are there's at least one), instead of being forced to let your 
networks stay "unknowable."

So go my thoughts on it. . . .
