Thursday morn Thank you for your reply.
Listed in IMail DNS black lists: fiveten blackhole.five-ten.sg.com spamhaus sbl.spamhaus.org ybl ybl.megacity.org v6net spammers.v6net.org spamcop bl.spamcop.net I can get to fiveten, spamhaus, and spamcop. This makes sense to me. These site should be available so I can verify message rejection. And to get IP addresses tested and removed. Are ybl.megacity.org, and spammers.v6net.org no longer legitimate? Are there other lists you recommend I should add to IMail? J ----- Original Message ----- From: "R. None of those are websites of spam databases. I think you're confusing the base zone of a spam database (the piece of information that your anti-spam software needs) with the website. That's like trying to go to http://mail.example.com to reach the website for example.com. Sure, it may work, but it isn't expected to. You may want to check out http://www.declude.com/junkmail/support/ip4r.htm which lists the websites for the spam databases. >So, if the webaddress "spammers.v6net.org" was purchased by >internet-guide.biz, or was hijacked, is it now able to harvest any >addresses that IMAIL is sending to it for review? > Spam database lookups look up IP addresses. So if a spam database dies and someone picks up the domain, they could set up their DNS to mimick the way the spam database worked, and get the IP addresses that were sent to the spam database. All that would give them, though, is a giant list of IPs that have sent E-mail. That doesn't provide someone with much useful information. -Scott To Unsubscribe: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html List Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/imail_forum%40list.ipswitch.com/ Knowledge Base/FAQ: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/IMail/ To Unsubscribe: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html List Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/imail_forum%40list.ipswitch.com/ Knowledge Base/FAQ: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/IMail/
