Hi all,

I am investigating the IMAP protocol, especially its new mail
notification mechanism. In my understand, IMAP requires a client to poll
it (NOOP) periodically in order to receive new mail notifications. Is it
the only way?

I am thinking about having an IMAP client connecting to the IMAP servers
to watch for new mails in several folders. When, an e-mail arrives in
any of the folders, it would receive a notification (pushed from the
server) in real-time and the notification also specifics which folder
has new e-mails. Is this available in current IMAP specification?

Any comment?

Thank you very much.

Best Regards,
Tony Cheung
