I just set up my first Linux mailserver with sendmail 8.11.6 and the nimap-2000c-15 rpm. Both are running fine so far, but I haven't found any decent documentation about the authentication. I would like to enable pop before smtp but I don't know how to instruct imap-2000 to add the IP of the user to the access.db file. I also try to figure out how to make imap-2000 use a file other than the passwd for the authentication. I'd like to use a seperate file with the usernames and encrpyted passwords (one pair per line. Or a hash, doesn't matter). The sendmail virtusertable and aliases files allow me to create mailboxes for users which are not present in the passwd. I just need to find out how to make imap-2000 do these two things. Any help, links or tipps would be appreciated.
