But I think Courier IMAP is the only open-sourced IMAP server available, or
could you suggest a better one ? I guess Cyrus and UW imapd are not
open-sourced .Morever , as long as outside clients are not allowed to
connect to our IMAP server ( the non-compliant Courier-imap, i mean) , I
think we could live with that.Do you see any other problems ?

I do *not* recommend that server.  It is non-compliant with the IMAP
specification.  Its non-compliant behaviors were a subject of some
discussion
at the IETF in Atlanta.

Look at Cyrus (CMU) and UW imapd (University of Washington) instead for
freeware servers.
