X-NETSCAPE served a couple of functions for which we had a business need several years back and couldn't otherwise be accomplished (at the time) in a more standards compliant fashion. First of all it reported the server version and operating system so to assist us in diagnosing customer issues. Secondly we needed a way for the client to discover the URL for administering their account issues, such as changing password. So we provided this URL in an additional bracketed response. The old Netscape clients had an otherwise disabled menu button for managing mail account or somesuch. If it had a URL, it would enable that item. Don't think they carried it through to mozilla, because I can't find it anywhere - but it might be there somewhere and no longer exposed, dunno.does anyone knows something about the X-NETSCAPE capability? are there clients (mozilla?) using this capability? and what is the meaning of it?greetings, Alex
I also don't know much about the current state of the netscape/iplanet/whatever servers, but I think that Sun pretty much has the product source now and I'm dubious that interface is still around in current products.
