I'm getting a bit desperate as I can't seem to figure out why this is happening.
I'm using redhat 9 and the stock rpm of imap that comes with it: imap-2001a-18
I've tried it using mbox and without using mbox, tried the stock rpm, built an rpm from the srpm and still keep getting the following problems.
1. Occasionally, not everytime, the users spool file in /var/spool/mail gets left with just an eol in it. The mail clients then start coming up with messages when the user checks his email to the effect that the inbox is not in mailbox format. When he gets new email, it goes away. This happens with both pop and imap (when using mbox after mail is moved to mbox, mail spool has an eol) accounts.
2. read messages, suddenly become unread. Just happened to me right now.. suddenly 11 messages just got marked as unread in my email client.
Both of these happen infrequently, but I can't seem to track down what is causing it and I'm hoping I can get to the bottom of it somehow by either fixing source in the srpm as I want to keep all rpms on this system... else it kind of defeats the purpose of rpms. I can try a newer version from tarball I guess and see if it fixes it, but I'd rather get to the bottom of what is happening with this version.
Has anyone else seen this behaviour?
Thanks Bill Dossett
