Apple Mail's junk filter uses the Junk, JunkRecorded, and NotJunk flags.
New Mozilla (and Netscape 7.1) use Junk and NotJunk as well. I am wondering
if we should just standardize those (and $AutoJunk/... as suggested by
Chris) in order not to break existing clients.
We can't standardize Junk and NotJunk; they are in the wrong namespace.
It would be useful to know the exact semantics of the Junk and NotJunk flag usage in Netscape and Apple Mail. If they are (a) used sanely and (b) somewhat compatible between the two clients, we have a better chance of getting the two clients to switch to $Junk et al if we model their functionality.
We need to get the Netscape and Apple folks participating on the mailing lists and work groups. I've been trying to find the right people at Apple, but haven't had any success (yet).
