I bet that the problem is the trailing space in "runbox.com ". Of course, it reflects the same in the envelope <[EMAIL PROTECTED] >. I am not certain if the latter is illegal but it would be wise to trim it.

I have a user reporting that neither Outlook nor Mulberry can retrieve a particular message from my IMAP server - when they try to retrieve the envelope of the message, they both behave as though there is a syntactic (rather than semantic) error in the response and abort the transaction.
Try as I might, I can't see what the syntactic issues is, and I'd be grateful for some assistance.
First, here are the RFC822 headers for the offending message:
-------------------------- Cut here ----------------------------
X-Envelope-To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Received: from HOME (4.40.96.168) by xxxxx.com (Mercury/32 v3.32) ID MG000889;

Subject: How much tax have you paid in your life? Want to stop?
Date: Sat, 19 Jul 03 05:33:18 GMT
X-Mailer: Microsoft Outlook Express 5.00.2615.200
MIME-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: multipart/related;
type="multipart/alternative";
boundary="7__F727_5AB_2B_5"
X-Priority: 3
X-MSMail-Priority: Normal
-------------------------- Cut here ----------------------------
And now, here is the envelope response generated by my server for this message (I have wrapped it for convenience of viewing, but have checked rigorously that all the space characters are correct in the original):
-------------------------- Cut here ---------------------------- * 9 FETCH (ENVELOPE ("Sat, 19 Jul 03 05:33:18 GMT" "How much tax have you paid in your life? Want to stop?" (("Chris Barron" NIL "toughguyer" "runbox.com ")) (("Chris Barron" NIL "toughguyer" "runbox.com ")) (("Chris Barron" NIL "toughguyer" "runbox.com ")) ((NIL NIL "xxxxxx" "xxxxx.com")) NIL NIL NIL "<4e1287$vi6$$327k-9- [EMAIL PROTECTED]>")) a9 OK FETCH complete. -------------------------- Cut here ----------------------------
Now, I can see some *semantic* problems with this - the trailing space on the domain portion of the address, for instance; but semantic errors should not result in the transaction aborting. I'm at a loss for what *syntactic* error there might be here: could some kind soul please point it out to me so I can correct it?
Cheers!
