In the hope to get more tests, I've committed the new code to 
the trunk; the "character" branch will not be updated anymore.
The same is true for the IMDbPY-based programs in the CVS.

The character pages support seems stable enough, and should be
_complete_ for both "http" (and "httpThin") and "mobile".

"sql" and "local" support requires some careful choices and probably
a lot of work, and is not planned for the next release (that I hope
to do in a few days).
