I'm installing a primary/backup MX for an ISP. the postfix config of 2 is
mirrored from 1. 1 runs fine

On 2, postfix runs, accepts mail, but maillog contains no PTR records,
everything is unknown[ip.ad.re.ss]. but if I dig my IP, I get a PTR so the
default nameserver is working.

first time I've seen this one, anybody Linux person know what's wrong here?

also, the ISP has installed the machines with journalling which is
destroying the performance (100 to 200 smtpd processes waiting on queue
access). Is it possible to turn of journalling without redoing the whole disk?
