Are you doing SAV/RAV?

I have run across a similar situation like this:
- I added the domain to my DNS
- Added them to Imail
- FORGOT to add them to transport.map
- Ran a DNSReport, saw mail not accepted properly.
- fixed transport.map / postfix reload and postmap /etc/postfix/*.map
- still got that error (mail loops back to myself error)

At this point I was able to fix it by deleting
/var/log/address_verify.map.db and postfix reload. The attempt to deliver
mail before transport.map was updated was cached in the sender/recipient
verification db - so it never bothered to look again even after I reloaded
postfix (the verification db isn't flushed unless you delete it then postfix
reload).

Even if you didn't run a DNSReport as I did, if you were moving an existing
domain, any incoming mail BEFORE transport.map was updated could have caused
that situation. The 'mystery' time that postfix waited to see your new
transport.map settings was probably equal to
"address_verify_negative_refresh_time" :-)
