We use IMGate in front of our IMail server. We also use the IMGate machine
for outbound mail delivery so the IMail machine doesn't have to deal with
that.

We want to do a store and forward through our IMail machine so customers
with their own (Exchange) servers can run their inbound mail through our
IMGate, Declude JunkMail and Declude Virus systems.

To store and forward with IMail, they say to use a host file. IMail will
look at the host file before looking at DNS and send the mail according to
the host file.

But, if we're delivering outbound email through the IMGate server, we assume
IMail never looks at the host file. It just delivers straignt to the smart
host.

Since IMGate needs to deliver inbound mail to the IMail server, we can't
point the customer's mail to their server in IMgate.

Are there any options besides adding a dedicated outbound mail server?
