Good point, but I'd like the inverted letter to symbolize the cursor.
Another way of making "vi" stand out more might be to move the devil's
tail to the "i" letter, so that it becomes the "dot". That would be
reminiscent of the fact that Vim is occasionally spelled "ViM":
