Hi Nicholas,
I fear that this will be a difficult problem to diagnose without a bit
more information on your end, since BIRT report behavior is so specific
to your report design and the data in your database. Are you familiar
with YourKit? It might help if you could move this thread to the
developers list and include a YourKit snapshot of the session that
includes running this Birt report for investigation.
I'm not sure whether or not there are detailed instructions for using
YourKit with OpenMRS on the wiki...@Darius do you know of any?

Hi All,
I have used the patient summary on OpenMRS 1.2 which run in a fraction
of a second. I was able to attain this speed when I created some index
on the obs table. I recently upgraded to 1.7.2 and am having a hard
time getting the patient summary to run as it did in 1.2. I have
created on OpenMRS 1.7.2 the same indexes that sped up the patient
summary on 1.2. In fact while modifiying this patient summary within
birt rcp report designer (which is connected to my production server
database by the way), the summary printed in under a second. However
when I deploy this report within openmrs, it takes over 30s. I am
running birt module 2.3.2.
Can anyone point me to a possible solution to my situation please?
Nicholas
