This email sent also to [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> Hello,
For deleted nodes from Yemen in (https://openstreetmap.org/changeset/119556694) Andy Townsend in https://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/imports/2023-February/007170.html talk about "complaint that this import was of particularly poor quality." And give us a link to 6 comment of various nodes but there aren't one of them in Yemen and one in Saudi Arabia but user Abdullah Abdulrhman commented that the node is right. I agree that many of nodes imported from GNS by Metehyi are in wrong location because that some GNS sources are not accurate. But we are talking about deleting 14,822 nodes in Yemen changeset/119556694/119559125/119563423 the summary of these nodes is: count code desg explain 9718 PPL Populated Places 5185 of them are listed in Yemen census 2004 2629 WAD Wadis 658 MT mountains 150 HLL Hills 435 TRB Tribes 358 AREA Areas 262 WLL Water Wills 121 PASS Pass between mountains 491 OTHERS 68% of all deleted nodes as populated places. This node type is usually important and take attention from the users of the map if it has wrong location. Stability of location of these nodes in the map for more than 10 years means one of two things: * The location is true . and these are the most * The location is wrong but the node is of minimum importance. So no one correct it or send note about it. Deleting all these 14,822 nodes for very little minimum importance nodes that have wrong location is Wrong decision from DWG. And when I imported new nodes from GNS I revised the work of user Metehyi and corrected some tagging mistakes. I noticed some locations are moved from the location in GNS but I assumed Metehyi corrected some node by imagery.
