You have been helpful and I appreciate your input. I changed the SMTP server
to "nothing" per your suggestion and it seems to have stopped sending those
messages. Thanks!

It's not a big deal about the Trash bin not working -- I was just wondering
why it didn't.

under the activate tab in the config panel for AVP, i have set the trash
folder to many different things.  the program seems to ignore it, not sure. 
it has been pointing to an empty folder for days now, but it was still
placing the infected files in the default trash folder for SCSmfilter. 

 but the SCSmfilter setting i have set to where my spam.log file is.  i
haven't tried changing that.
