so i have this customer with about 20 employees, and something like 350
mailboxes, mostly because the owner is an idiot.
i.e. michael shapiro's account was "michael" (set up by me) and
"michael.shapiro" (also set up by me)
then he went and did mshapiro, m.shapiro, michaels, michael.s, and a few
others, for every person in the building. it's like he would forget the
format and try something new.
my normal standard for this is what i used.
(michael.shapiro for anywhere it's in print or on a website, etc. implying
formality, reply address is from michael, implying a bit more personal,
since people like friendly people)
anyway, they are moving, (got bought) in the name of "security" they blew
away their server, THEN it occured to someone to ashk me, and the first
thing i had to do was set up e mail.
i basically had to pull a lot of ugly stunts to get all their mail, and get
the account names.
[AutoForward]
ForwardTo = [EMAIL PROTECTED]
[Delivery]
Discard = no
is in all of the no-longer-used folders for this user. as he did it for
everyone i wish there was an easier way.
the discard=no is so i can see how much the account is actually in use.
(nothing for a year i'll nuke it)
so to test this i sent an email to michael, cc'ed to mshapiro, and 2
messages showed up in michaels box like it's supposed to. (yay! :)

so, the questions are:
a) is there a better way to do this?
b) is the message id thing going to matter (looks like it's reusing numbers?)
thanks :)
