As suggested I have removed "noreply@" from filteri.dat; will await
developments.
OK , so TF and SCSMfilter can act as belt and braces (suspenders?);
which is a "good thing". But if TF, which comes first as it is in
Filterb.plu, says "delete", why is it processed by SCSMfilter? I
suspect this is connected to Klint's reference to ERR-SKIP and ERR_NONE.
But why does it have to be one or the other? Surely TF could return the
appropriate ERR_ message, depending on the fate which TF had decreed for
the email.
Apart from the "use logfile" tick box in SCSMfilter, should I tick any
of the others, or are they duplicating TF functions?
Incidentally, it would be useful to have an option to delete/trash etc
any emails without a subject, as is done for blank "from" addresses.
Finally, would I avoid all these problems if I put TF in filteru.plu? I
put it in filterb.plu as it appeared, naively I suspect, to be the
logical place to put it; mainly because TF appeared to be a more
sophisticated product.
On another topic entirely, what is the purpose of the "reverse dns
incoming address" tickbox in RCVPNL. I know what a reverse dns lookup
does - finds the host name for an IP address - but how is it used
RCVPNL/ SMTPRCV? Does it check that the address is a valid MX address
or what?
Lastly, has any progess been made regarding SPF validation?

Trashfinder's exception lists only operate in TF; they have no effect on
other plugins or on SCSMFilter itself.
In this case, TF said the message was OK, but that doesn't stop something
else from filtering it.
It also can happen that SCSMFilter can trash a message that TF would have
deleted. I long ago got rid of any
filtering by SCSMFilter, as TF can do the same filtering, but also includes
exception lists and the like. I just use SCSMFilter to run the plugins (like
TF).
So I recommend using an empty or nearly empty filteri.dat, especially if you
have pass lists.
