I was originally for internet ... dj is right ... the trend started with the iMac and now has grown to cover everything.
At that time, everyone was branding their devices and technology with 'e' - as in e-mail, e-commerce, e-this and e-that ... Jobs, bucked the trend and named it the iMac, and after that 'i' became an house old name ...
