I think having the developers list (as opposed to the user list) here at eclipse.org makes sense, in particular as there are a few processes that send mails to rdf4j-dev (committer elections through the Portal, for example). I don't know whether these processes can be configured to use a different mailing list or whether they always use the eclipse.org list. If the latter, every developer has to stay subscribed to both [email protected] and the Google group to not miss out on anything. Hope that helps.
