Asia's largest IT park in Chennai

Chennai, July 4. (UNI): Prime
Minister A B Vajpayee today
dedicated to the nation the "Tidel
Park", Asia's largest information
technology (IT) park at Taramani
near here.
The Prime Minister formally
inaugurated the most sophisticated
IT park in the country at an
impressive function, presided over
by State Chief Minister M
Karunanidhi this evening.
Developed by the State-owned Industrial Development
Corporation (Tidco) and Electronics Corporation (Elcot), the
towering Tidel has earned the distinction of the tallest building
in the city. Tallest just not in terms of its height but also
because of the state-of-the-art facilities. (Photo by N Sridharan

The park, built at a cost of Rs 338 crores on a sprawling 15
acres, is located within the city limits, 20 minutes' drive from
the airport and city centre. It has a built up area of 1.28
million sq ft and comprises two basements, a ground floor and 12
upper floors.
It is surrounded by elite educational institutions and research
centres. The IIT-Madras, Anna University, the M S
Swaminathan Research Foundation, CSIR laboratories and the
Centre for Biotechnology are some of the institutions located
within a three km radius.
