Annamacharya - This dance ballet �Annamayya� depicts the life story of the Saint poet Annamayya with an incredible cast of musicians and dancers from India. The operatic ballet features Padmavibushan Dr. M Balamurali krishna, the renowned vocalist and composer, singing on stage as Annamacharya and the saint poet�s life story depicted by a cast of 19 musicians and dancers from India. Various styles of classical Indian dances - Bharatha Natyam Kuchipudi, Mohini Attam and Kathak are performed. The narrator is the main link to the characters on stage and the audience. HERITAGE CAMP Event: Rasika presents �Gurukulam 2000� - Children�s Summer Heritage Camp Venue: Beaverton First United Methodist Church Date: 9am - 12 noon, Monday to Friday, 10th - 14th July 2000 Admission: $50 for the week, free/$25 for rasika members� children. All children receive certificate of completion and participation from rasika. This year, as a rare treat, the artists of Annamayya, including Dr. Balamuralikrishna will be teaching our children music, dances and introducing the various musical instruments. Also, the artists from Mamata Shankar�s dance troupe will be talking to the children about the dances of India. On the final day of the camp, Friday evening from 7-9pm, we will have a children�s talent showcase event with distribution of certificates of participation. Neoclassical dances, folk dances from India are presented with flair and color, with music composed by eminent musicians including L. Subramaniam and Pandit Ravi Shankar.
