Asha Supporters:
I am glad to inform you that we (volunteers of Asha-Corvallis) are planning
to organize a picnic (called Asha Picnic) to report the annual progress of
Asha-Corvallis. Dr. Rakesh Gupta, Chair of the Picnic Committee, has already
reserved the Maple Grove Picnic Shelter at Avery Park for Friday, the August
17, 2001. Picnic will start at 6:00 P.M. and end by 10:00 P.M. The idea is
to remember the Independence Day (August 15th) of India while doing business
related to Asha!
Briefly, Asha-Corvallis chapter was established with the help of few
dedicated student volunteers at Oregon State University in 1996. The
chapter is now mostly comprised of professionals living in Corvallis and the
surrounding areas. Asha, which means �hope� in Indian language, is a
volunteer organization that operates mainly from the United States and
supports the basic education for underprivileged children in India.
We would like to summarize the progress made over the last fiscal year and
show you how we spent your donations. We are hoping to make this picnic a
connection between Indian professional community living in Corvallis and
Indian students at OSU, and between Corvallis and India! We encourage you to
