Dear Shantanu Cf basically means a complex form. Its refers to a group of closely related distinct species which cannot be easily distinguised even by molecular studies. Different species that are morphologically similar belong to such a species complex. Species such as Hemidactylus cf brookii may actually comprise of several species and in future may be separated into several new species. With regards Vivek Philip Cyriac
