When I look at this list, one simple example comes to mind: Ubuntu.
That's not a bad thing, but it makes me suggest that instead of arguing
about what features should be in the CD, it would be better to just take
Ubuntu as an example FOR THE FEATURE SIDE OF THINGS.
If the Indiana OpenSolaris CD can do what Ubuntu does than that's enough.
This doesn't mean it has to do everything the same way Ubuntu does, I'm just
talking about features here.

Okay, given that I'm not going to get this out in one go, here's the X and
Desktop Environment level functional list, which is a little bit closer to
home
and involves less thought from my point of view. I'll try and work on the
rest
of the stack over the weekend, and I know it's likely that you care about
that
part more.
