Bob,

This is a problem regardless of distribution. Performing the
aforementioned linking creates licensing issues for developers that
want to target the distribution and confusion over what licensing is
effective. Even though a distribution may be done by the community, it
still needs the same sane restrictions that a vendor might choose
because of these issues.

It is my belief that the restriction should remain the same as others
have chose; that is, to not do so to avoid the problems it creates.

Others might feel differently, but as a developer, I would be rather
upset if a distributor created this sort of mess for me by choosing to
link a GPL library to a LGPL application.

This problem has created issues for projects other than our own even:
