This morning, i did an image-update, and it does something

How can i see what it did exactly? what files/packages were replaced?
pkg history -l doesn't show anything!?

I think this is an excellent question. The lack of knowledge about what is happening during an update is a major flaw in the new system. I'd much prefer output like that of yum, where I can see what packages are being installed and a real time view of what is happening during the update.

The design of pkg(5) is very different from yum. At the point of installation, it doesn't install individual packages; it performs the collective set of actions calculated during plan creation.

There is an open RFE to improve the verbosity --verbose so that more details are exposed, but just remember that information is going to be exposed differently than other systems because a different approach was taken here.

OK, understood. I'm not that familiar with the design of pkg but I don't care about the underlying details as much as I care about having a way to see what was changed when I do a package or image update. The RFE for having more verbosity sounds like a good step forward (although I admit I don't know the details of it). Reverting back to a previous boot environment isn't always a timely fix in my situation, especially when most stuff in the new BE works and I want to continue using the new BE and simply fix the pieces in the new BE that are broken.
