OK, understood. I'm not that familiar with the design of pkg but I
don't care about the underlying details as much as I care about having a
way to see what was changed when I do a package or image update. The
RFE for having more verbosity sounds like a good step forward (although
I admit I don't know the details of it). Reverting back to a previous
boot environment isn't always a timely fix in my situation, especially
when most stuff in the new BE works and I want to continue using the new
BE and simply fix the pieces in the new BE that are broken.
There's always the "pkg fix" subcommand :)
I'm not certain what would be broken though that would require you to
manually fix something. Also, if you manually change any files, the
packaging system may very well remove or replace them the next time you
perform a packaging operation unless it's been marked as an editable file.
