Dear Bhatt ji,
In the first place the matter is not very clear. You have asked for
insecticide or fungicide.
Does it appear like a rash? is it white in colour? Are there ants all
over the branches? does this occur only on tender shoots/ branches?
If so, it is either mealybugs (if the objects sticking to the plants
are white). If it is round and of brounish colour, it could be some
other sucking pest.
In both the cases, the ants are the carriers, they carry the nymphs
and place them on succulent spots. The sucking pests do not move, they
spend their entire life on the same spot. They secrete honeydew which
the ants feed on. There is a symbiotic relationship between the
sucking pests and the ants.
Try to control the ants and the population of these sucking pests will
be controlled. These sucking pests do not thrive under shade. I know
quite a few birds that predate on these pests as such the presence of
good shade will encourage the birds to come to the area.
Incidentally, Pseudomonas florescense is a bacteria that is available
from several manufacturers of organic fungicides. They are harmless
and in fact even promote growth in plants.
Regards
Yazdy Palia.
