Hi

I believe this is Strobilanthes nilgirianthes also known as Mal Karvi
since these plants grow on open Maal (open low undulated / flat lands)
unlike the Karvi which grows as undergrowth.

The gregarious flowering of this plant also happens at much longer
interval than Karvi which gregarioulsy flowere once in seven yeras.
The Maal Karvi is supposed to flower gregariously once in 14 to 21
years! You may find a few individuals flowering every year, but that
is different than gregarious flowering or mass flowering. Mass
flowering also provides large quantum of nectar for bees to produce
special honey in this flowering season.

This is the most beautiful plant on open Maals in the Sahyadri and is
an excellent soil binder.
