Hi,
Pleocaulis ritchiei locally called Topli-karvi/ Mal-karvi/ Bakra is a small
perennial shrub that flowers once in 7 years.
Neeelakurunji [Strobilanthus kuthiana previously called S.nilgiranthus] is
also a shrub 2-6 ft tall growing at elevations of 6000-7000 ft with
purplish-blue flowers that gives the Nilgiris its name- Blue Mountain. It
flowers gregariously once in 12 yrs.
             Regards,
              Neil Soares.
