From: [email protected] To: [email protected] CC: [email protected] This is not unusual. Basically as the name suggests this tree is non native(Native of tropical Africa). The flowering season may vary. Secondly many trees show flowering and at the same time the fruits from flowers of earlier season are still seen hanging on the tree. You can observe this phenomenon at present on Albizia trees showing flowers as well as pods. Anyway beautiful pictures of Sausage tree. Satish 2009/3/13 rashida atthar <[email protected]> Thank you Satish ji, may I ask whether this tree is unusual or there could be variation from tree to tree? regards Rashida Atthar Date: Thu, 12 Mar 2009 20:26:17 +0530 Subject: [indiantreepix:9316] Re: Kigelia pinnata, Lalbaug, Bengalaru. From: [email protected] To: [email protected] CC: [email protected] You are right. You have to look for flowers only in late evening actually night. In the morning all the flowers are wilted. Pollination by bats........night flowering! Satish 2009/3/11 rashida atthar <[email protected]> Dear Garg ji & all, This kigelia africana syn: pinnata was seen by me at Lalbaug, Bengalaru on 16th Feb '09, both fruiting and flowering. It is mentioned in books that flowering is generally in April, so this one is flowering early! It is a huge tree and an absolute delight to watch. These pics were taken between 7.00 pm and 8.00pm, that is also the time the buds flower of this tree and fall off at dawn. regards, Rashida Atthar Twice the fun— Share photos while you chat with Windows Live Messenger. -- http:// satishphadke.blogspot.com -- http:// satishphadke.blogspot.com _________________________________________________________________ Windows Live Messenger.
