Rashida ji The lead given by Rani ji was valid. Ottelia has solitary flowers. The identification at Flowers of India website is probably misplaced. Sagittaria has flowers in several distant clusters, and free carpels as seen in your photograph. Your plant could be most probably Sagittaria guayanensis, reported from India and Pakistan..

I checked again on flowers of India and the web. My pic seems to match completely with Ottelia ovalifolia. There are about 20 species of Sagittaria, I feel the closest is Sagittarai rigida to my pic. I request your feedback for the same please. Thank you. regards, Rashida. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Date: Mon, 24 Aug 2009 09:37:23 +0530 Subject: [indiantreepix:16663] Re: Request For water plant ID-180808 From: [email protected] To: [email protected] CC: [email protected]; [email protected] Check for Sagittaria On Mon, Aug 24, 2009 at 12:09 AM, rashida atthar <[email protected]> wrote: Thank you Garg ji for the ID and the link. regards, Rashida. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Sun, 23 Aug 2009 15:58:03 +0530 Subject: [indiantreepix:16598] Re: Request For water plant ID-180808 From: [email protected] To: [email protected] CC: [email protected] Hi, Rashida ji, I think Ottelia ovalifolia (Swamp Lily) as per link: http://www.flowersofindia.net/catalog/slides/Swamp%20Lily.html (FOI). 2009/8/23 rashida atthar <[email protected]> This water plant was seen in a small Japanese garden within Rani Baug, Mumbai on 18 August '09.
