Hello friends,
The white clump is not any inflorescence. It is too large to be any sucking
pest. Moreover, there does not appear to be any ants around which normally
will be seen when there is an infestation of these sucking pests. Mealy bugs
normally are immobile and the young ones are transported and placed at
tender succulent areas by ants. There is a symbiotic relationship between
the two. The mealy bugs secrete a honeydew that the ants feed on and since
the mealy bugs are not mobile, the ants play the part of placing the young
ones in a favourable spot for them to suck the sap.
The fluffy matter appears to be some kind of pest that creates the lather
for laying their eggs in. The eggs hatch and then leave the fluffy home. One
comes across such fluffy matter at the edge of a lake, tank etc where the
green tree frog beats up a lather at the time of mating where the eggs get
hatched and then the tadpoles drop into the water and start the life cycle.
Regards
Yazdy Palia.
