E. parviflora Wall. is now known as E. angustifolia var. orientalis. E.
angustifolia var. angustifolia is easily differentiated from E. umbellata
by being mostly a tree, leaves greyish on both surfaces, narrower less than
1.5 cm broad, style glabrous, endocarp neither ribbed nor woolly. var
orientalis being found in Western Himalayas is difficult to differentiate
from E. umbellata in leaves being greenish above, and up to 3 cm broad like
latter, but differentiated by glabrous style endocarp not ribbed, larger
fruit 1.5 to 2 cm long (in E. umbellata leaves greenish above, up to 3 cm
broad, style hairy, endocarp ribbed, fruit 8-9 mm long)
