Oh Mani ji, I refuse to say, I am from germany. I am from India. :-))), I live in Germany :-(). The Pansies btw. also are winter flowers. They can survive the winter, the main flowering time here is from March till June. But in Mumbai and Pune you have flowers round the year, which we don't have. Btw. I am from Pune.
Now that we are discussing, I looked in Internet. Under german wikipadia I found the following: Das Stiefmütterchen ist das Symbol der Freidenker in Frankreich und in Österreich. Es war schon im Mittelalter das Symbol für gute (humanistische) Gedanken. Das Stiefmütterchen ist auch eines der Stadtsymbole der japanischen Stadt Osaka. Stiefmütterchen is a symbol of freethinkers in france and austria. In medieval times it was a symbol of good / humanistic thoughts. Stiefmütterchen is a statesymbol of Osaka in Japan. Freethought is a philosophical viewpoint that holds that opinions should be formed on the basis of science, logic, and reason, and should not be influenced by authority, tradition, or any dogma.[1] The cognitive application of freethought is known as freethinking, and practitioners of freethought are known as freethinkers What a good discussion, Mani ji, you have started. I think the climate there is very conducive for the growth of Pansies and it looks so lovely. Here in Mumbai, we can grow but the growth and flowering is not very satisfying and we have to grow during winter times. Regards, Mani. But the plant survives only for one year atleast here in germany. They spread their seeds, but I rather collect the seeds and sow them again in a pot or in one corner of my garden. I then know, what is growing where.
