I just found out from Kew that the accepted name is

Adonidia merrillii (Becc.) Becc., Philipp. J. Sci. 14: 329 (1919).

syn: Veitchia merrillii (Becc.) H.E.Moore, Gentes Herb. 8: 501
(1957)......Note the double ' i ' .
