It seems that the flower color in this species is variable, from white to
pale blue to purple (as shown in the pictures on POWO
<https://powo.science.kew.org/taxon/urn:lsid:ipni.org:names:60456468-2>).
The name *வெள்ளைக் குறிஞ்சி vellai kurinji* (vellai = white, likely
referring to flower color) is appropriate for the pale or white-flowered
form, but it won't be accurate and could cause confusion when applied to
other forms.
