Nice to know that you have been observing the progression of flowering of
this grass.
It is confirmed Polytoca barbata=Chionachne koenigii as suggested earlier.
The elliptic seed like structure is actually the female spikelet enclosed
in modified involucre like structure. In case of Coix lachryma-jobi, this
will be ovoid in shape with wide base and narrow tip.
