To confirm the identity, it is necessary to see the female spikelets which is usually seen at the base of the male inflorescence, within a modified white shelled involucre. Please open up the bracts of the inflorescence to see if any female spikelets are there. If there is a single elliptic shell like structure, it could be Polytoca barbata = Chionachne koenigii.
