Gibsonii is to commemorate the name in honor of Alexander Gibson (1800–
1867) was a Scottish surgeon and botanist who worked in India.
Foetida is for bad smell of the flower. The other variety, H. gibsonii
var. gibsonii is supposed to have good smell.
