Tanay Sir, I have made a mistake in my last mail regarding the meaning of Bengali names of plant species. I wrote that to find meanings of Bengali names we might take help from lexicon of older days. I mentioned about two dictionaries, one by Rajsekhar Basu and the another one, called KARIKA.
KARIKA is not a lexicon, rather it is a book that contain info on family tree (genealogy). It is NIRUKTA what i wanted to mention for the source of Bengali meanings.
