Dear all, Bit of clarification from my side. 1.) Trichosanthes dioica Roxb is botanical name listed for patola in all Ayurvedic texts. there is supposed to be a bitter variety. 2.) Root is used extensively in cardiac medicines. 3.) seed is spermicidal when eaten We have used it in cardiac vessel block with very good results.
