IndoCBM 2008 is expected to set an important milestone in Indonesia's Energy industry, by bringing together leading international CBM players to share their knowledge and experiences in overcoming the challenges and realizing the opportunities presented by Indonesia's CBM resources. http://www.iee-c.com/indocbm2008/ EMBARKING ON INDONESIA'S CBM OPPORTUNITIES & DEVELOPMENT : Leveraging Best World Practices & Experiences CBM Potential in Indonesia While CBM is expected to make significant contribution to the energy industry in several countries, CBM will also potentially play a pivotal role in Indonesia's energy diversification strategy. Indonesia's potential CBM resources of 453 TCF clearly represents a viable and commercially attractive opportunity for both Indonesia as well as our business and technology partners. Over the past year, numerous companies have expressed serious intention to participate in Indonesia's CBM business. Several major oil and gas companies operating in Indonesia are currently relooking at their data bank to re-assess CBM development prospects within their oil and gas contract areas. A number of CBM - rich open areas have also been identified to be potentially offered and contracted. The industry is witnessing intensified efforts, not only in the form of CBM workshops, courses and seminars conducted by both private and Government institutions, but also in the form of early establishment of cooperation and joint ventures among companies to develop CBM resources in Indonesia. The Government of Indonesia has issued a new regulation and road map for CBM development to support Indonesia's long term strategy for energy diversification. However, despite the commitment shown by the Government and industry to develop Indonesia's CBM resources, many hurdles remain. Further clarity of the CBM contracting model and other regulatory issues is needed to increase the confidence and attract the participation of business partners and investors.
