Despite being delayed for about five hours from its original schedule, 
mediation intended to handle Mbah Priok grave case run smoothly Thursday 
(4/15). The meeting taking place at City Hall, Jakarta from 2.30 p.m. to 5.30 
p.m. resulted in nine points of agreement that must be implemented by parties 
involved in the case.

Among those present at the meeting were Jakarta Capital City Vice Governor 
Prijanto, PT Pelindo II President Director RJ Lino, DPD member AM Fatwa, MUI 
Chairman Ma`ruf Amin, the grave beneficiary Habib Alwi Al Haddad, and religious 
leader Habib Riziq.

"This mediation results in 9 points of agreement which are expected to bring 
peace to Jakarta," said Prijanto during the meeting Thursday (4/15). The vice 
governor served as the mediator between the beneficiary and PT Pelindo. 

The nine points of agreement are as follows; Mbah Priok’s grave will not be 
relocated; the entrance gate and pavilion in the area of the grave will be 
shifted so as not to disrupt the activities of ports and terminals which will 
function in accordance with international standards. "Related to the direction 
to which the gate and the pavilion will be shifted, the matter is submitted to 
the grave beneficiary, PT Pelindo, and religious leaders," he said.

Later on, the remaining land which is still under dispute will continue to be 
discussed by both parties in order to find the best solution; the Wednesday’s 
clash between public order police (Satpol PP) officers and local people will be 
processed in line with prevailing regulations; the need to involve public 
figures and religious leaders to resolve the problem; PT Pelindo will make an 
MoU on the results of further discussions with the beneficiary. 

The administration of PT Pelindo II will communicate with the grave 
beneficiaries through City Council Commission A; PT. Pelindo and Jakarta 
government will provide more attention to the victims of the clash; the city 
government will shoulder all medical cost for the victims; the beneficiary and 
Pelindo will hold another discussion at the National Human Rights Commission 
scheduled on Friday (5/16). 

Responding to this agreement, the beneficiary Habib Alwi Al Haddad said he was 
satisfied, and hoped PT Pelindo would not deny the agreement read by the vice 
governor. "On overall, I am satisfied with the results of this meeting," said 
Habib Alwi al-Haddad.

In the meantime, President Director of PT Pelindo II, RJ Lino, pledged to 
comply with the meeting results. "Part of the agreement is the renovation on 
the pavilion, and construction of underground tunnel as well as a parking lot 
on Jl Jampea. We will also build a fence around the grave area so as not to 
disrupt activities at the port," he said.
