Glad to hear it! I just checked a new install I had lying around and at least in InfluxDB 0.12.2 a bare install has no users. Now I recall the deal. https://docs.influxdata.com/influxdb/v0.13/administration/authentication_and_authorization/#set-up-authentication describes it a bit, but essentially it works like this:
InfluxDB ships with authentication off by default InfluxDB ships with no users by default InfluxDB ignores auth parameters if auth is not active If auth is active but there are still no users, InfluxDB rejects all queries except one to create an admin user.
