Also, what about using the 'timeseries' functionality of Influxdb. Influxdb being a timeseries datastore, could (in theory) store events that are happening in a sequential time-bound manner. In the case of chat there are couple of usecases. 1. Storing the room events (messages) as they occur. 2. Replaying the room events for itnerested parties in a sequential manner.
Influxdb is opitmised at doing the above isn't it? Although I do understand that it's optimised to store numerical data and provides various aggregation functionalties on such data.
