I am sharing this in the hope that you may not hit the problems that I did.

It's now 0214. After many hours, and thanks to the excellent help
of Todd DeSantis at Transarc customer support, our cell has been recovered.

After having run an rs_aix41 afs34beta (db+fs) server in our cell
for several weeks and having several rs_aix41 afs34beta clients,
I had the impression that afs34beta was stable enough to try on all
our servers.

Unfortunately, there appears to be a problem somewhere between the
rs_aix41 afs34beta vlserver and CacheManager which makes "/afs"
unavailable.

I have now disabled all our rs_aix41 afs34beta database servers
and reverted to rs_aix32 database servers using the rs_aix41
servers _only_ as fileservers. This is stable.

I understand there is a fix on its way from Transarc that addresses
the problem we encountered. You would be well advised to await that
fix before using rs_aix41 afs34beta database servers.

Hope this helps!
